Description
East Asian English speakers
In this course we cover the 44 sounds of GB English and focus specifically on the areas that are different in East Asian accents (including Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese). In particular we focus on:
- Mouth positions, lengths and movements for vowel sounds.
- Consonant articulations by place, manner and voicing to achieve the full range.
- Stress patterns in English words and sentences.
- Connected speech.
These areas form the DNA of the accent, so with practice and repetition, learners gain control over their pronunciation skills and learn how to modify their accent.
