What is ‘Posh’?

A posh English accent involves a distinctive combination of sounds, intonation and voice that differs noticeably from standard GB, especially when matched with a posh vocabulary. There are numerous different types of posh accent, ranging from the Queen’s rather old-fashioned version, to modern accents which use a more standard sound system, but perhaps more elaborate intonation and vocabulary.
