PHUBBING /ˈfʌbɪŋ/

PHUBBING is a relatively new word, originating in Australia in 2012 and formed by combining the words PHONE and SNUBBING, here you can see it in action:

The pronunciation /ˈfʌbɪŋ/ is quite obvious, taking the /f/ pronunciation of the PH from PHONE and everything else from SNUBBING.

In Northern English accents that do not have the FOOT/STRUT split, the stressed vowel will be /ʊ/. Throughout the English speaking world, G DROPPING will occur on this word making the last sound /n/.

The word (a neologism) is unusual in that it was created by a dictionary (Macquarie) in conjunction with an advertising agency in Australia.
